The Daily Mail Australia is warning Aussies to start their Christmas shopping now as international freight delays, wharf disputes and rising prices create the 'perfect storm' to ruin the festive season.

Director of one of leading freight specialist Global Forwarding Enrica Centorame said it's the worst she's seen the global supply chain in 25 years.

She revealed Australia is experiencing up to six months delay on receiving a range of goods largely due to Covid outbreaks in shipping ports as well as its impact on productivity and production.

The Daily Mail reports the supply of international products has been hit hard by a lack of ships and a nearly quadrupled increase in container costs since last year, due to the global pandemic causing chaos in major ports around the globe.

Residents across Australia, especially Victoria, are being urged to shop locally and early to avoid disappointment for the upcoming holiday.
